Expansion, as estimated by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to an almost over long term high at 13.76 percent in May, on the rear of expanding transport and food costs, as per information shared by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday.
Expansion sped up from 13.37pc year-on-year (YoY) in April, denoting a 0.44pc month-on-month (MoM) ascend in May.
This is the most elevated CPI expansion since January 2020 when it was 14.6pc.
As per the PBS, expansion expanded by 12.36pc in metropolitan regions and 15.88pc in rustic regions.
The inflationary pattern was driven by transport, which saw a 31.77pc ascent, trailed by food at 17.25pc. Costs of short-lived food things expanded by 26.37pc and durable things by 15.94pc, as per the PBS information.
